Our new Pope Francis has already both inspired us with his humility and challenged us with his words urging us to make care for Creation and care for the poor a significant part of our Catholic witness: Let us protect Christ in our lives, so that we can protect others, so that we can protect creation!  [March 19, 2013]

Each year the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change celebrates the feast of St. Francis with a special program.  The theme of this year’s program is, _Melting Ice, Mending Creation: a Catholic Approach to Climate Change._  The program begins with prayer for creation and moves to a presentation on climate change and Catholic teaching, incorporating large and small group discussion. Highlights of the program include the Pontifical Academy of Science’s Working Group statement, Fate of Mountain Glaciers in the Anthropocene and a TED talk by science photographer James Balong.

Please join us on Monday, October 7 at 7pm in Jepson 108 to pray, learn, discuss and be moved to action along with thousands of others across the country concerned about the implications of climate change on the living an authentic Christian life, especially rooted in Catholic tradition.  Although the program comes from a Catholic perspective, all faith perspectives are most welcome to participate!  The program is hosted by Gonzaga’s Advisory Council on Stewardship and Sustainability (ACSS).
